The Hey Baby Team

Samantha Rae - Founder, Antenatal Teacher and Hypnobirthing Instructor
I am a FEDANT accredited Birth & Parent coach & Doula who gained a diploma in Antenatal Education in 2021, leaving behind a 20 year media career. I did this to follow my passion of supporting expectant parents and families throughout pregnancy, birth & postpartum.
I birthed my daughter in 2018 and wow! I was not prepared. I buried my head in the sand, I was massively overwhelmed. I had no idea how to help my body birth my baby and I did all the things to make it harder for myself without understanding why. I listened to too many other people and didn't listen to what my body was telling me. I didn't learn the basics. My breastfeeding journey was short due to lack of support, and I blamed myself for not being 'good enough' at birth or being a mum in general.
SO that's why I'm here, I want to support & guide as many of you, expectant parents, to have a positive, empowered experience when birthing your babies. So you understand the choices available to you in your birth and gain the confidence to advocate for yourselves when you need too. To leave your birth feeling connected and powerful! I also stay alongside you to answer questions, listen, support and sign post, if or when you need me long after your antenatal course ends.
I am so passionate about birth support I launched The Perinatal Academy in 2022 offering Antenatal Teacher Training in a time when we need independent birth workers more than ever.
I believe that the wellbeing of you as parents is so important and that you should be informed, supported and empowered as you transition into parenthood. I am very motivated to keep creating communities of new parents in East Kent, and I absolutely love what I do, committed to constantly learning to be able to support and sign post parents throughout.
I live in Canterbury with my husband Dom & daughter Rosa.
When I am not working and being a mum, then you'll find me in Whitstable or at The Sun Deck in Margate with friends and fam.
We love Kent life š

Frances Tervet - Independent Midwife, Antenatal Educator & Hypnobirthing Instructor
I'm Frances, fellow mum to three boys, independent midwife, antenatal educator and hypnobirthing instructor. I am passionate about providing care that puts you and your family right at the centre.
I have been in the birth world for over a decade I have gained experienced working in all NHS settings. I was nominated as Community Midwife of the Year in 2024.
I have spent most of my time supporting families to birth at home and I am an expert in physiological birth. I also have special interest in supporting 'out of guidance' births, whether that's because you've been told you have a high BMI, whether you're expecting twins or anything in-between.
I fundamentally believe in your body's ability to birth the baby you're growing. If you're not there yet, that's OK. You can always borrow some of my belief until you get there!
I believe that everyone should feel empowered with evidence-based information to make the decisions that are right for them. It is impossible to plan every little detail of your birth, but I believe that a positive birth experience comes from being supported and feeling heard, listened to and validated as well as being cared for by someone whom you trust and come to know.

Hannah Croft - IBCLC Lactation Consultant
As an IBCLC I am passionate about helping families feed their babies in the way they choose to.ā
I have been an IBCLC for 5 years, and have grown a successful private practice, serving families not only locally, but across the world.
Along with being an IBCLC, I am a trained and qualified Norland Nanny so I have the highest quality training in working with babies, children and their families, and therefore a unique set of skills. This has given me a solid basis to develop my own business working in the field of infant feeding support, and lactation, something I feel so privileged to be able to do. I love my job!
After having my first baby, and having discovered a passion for supporting families to breastfeed. I volunteered as a Breastfeeding Peer Supporter for nearly 4 years, before becoming a Voluntary Breastfeeding Counsellor for an International Breastfeeding charity.
After completing the educational (14 health science subjects, and 90 hours of breastfeeding education) and clinical hours (1000 hours of practical experience) requirements I was accepted to sit the IBCLC exam, and in December 2018 I was thrilled to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. This means I am trained to have the highest level of breastfeeding education and awareness to support families to breastfeed, whether that is through antenatal education, or if things are tricky or more complicated.
As is necessary for an IBCLC, I have to recertify every after 5 years in Practise, and have to demonstrate a commitment to keeping my clinical knowledge up to date, and evidence based.
I live in Canterbury, Kent with my husband and 2 children. Iām a member of LCGB and also a pump agent for Ardo. Iām a Mindful Breastfeeding Practitioner so can help you use Mindfulness techniques to reach your goals.
