Doula Services

Why I Doula..

Having a Doula in to support you can can have the most positive effect on your experience, from your pregnancy through to postpartum, those early days when you are navigating life with your newborn as you start or grow your family. There can be so many reasons why you might want Doula support, and I believe there is a Doula out there for everyone.

I think of myself as your birth companion who will walk alongside you for much longer than just your labour journey. I provide evidence based information, a non-judgmental listening ear and practical, physical and emotional support during pregnancy, birth and the newborn days.

We know that it is recommended that women and birthing people benefit massively from continuity of care and a constant companion at birth, which makes so much sense doesn’t it? Whilst I am beyond grateful for the NHS we can’t sugar coat the current state of our maternity system, and a huge part of my role as a Doula is to help you navigate your way through that.

I have been supporting parents in my role as an Antenatal Teacher since 2021, also offering 1-2-1 support throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond. I had been waiting until my daughter was old enough for me to be able to support families in this way, and the time is now. It’s an absolute calling, and I am so excited to be here.

I am non judgemental, pro-choice and very happy to support hospital births, as I do not believe Doulas are only needed at home. I birthed my daughter on a labour ward and would have loved a Doula by my side.

  • Sam transformed my experience of childbirth the second time round!

..my first labour felt intense, unbearable, and I felt very clueless and helpless for some parts. I was in labour for a long time and scared. I felt that I wasn't listened to during and after my labour. Sam listened to my story and knew she could help.

I only "found" Sam 2 weeks before my due date, but even with this limited time, Sam fit me in and really helped change my perspective on childbirth. With the tools Sam provided and taught me, for my second child, I laboured at home with no pain relief until it got to the point I felt I needed to go to the hospital. When I got there I had got to 8cm dilated! I did opt for an epidural again but I made my voice heard, I said what I wanted and we had a lovely birth, followed by the much wanted golden hour (and some!).

I don't feel I would've gotten this far without Sam. I'm not planning on having any more children, but if I did, I'd speak to Sam as soon as I found out I was pregnant”

  • 'Our baby ended up arriving 7 weeks early

… which was a very overwhelming time, Sam was there for us and offered lots of advice and signposting which really helped us! In addition the content from the course really helped us to be strong in our decisions pre and post baby especially in the medical setting where it can be quite intimidating!’
